Roofing Contractor

Roofing Contractors partnered with Survive Solar are entitled to do the following work:

  • any roof repair, reinforcement, or full replacement jobs prior to installing the actual solar power system

  • the physical install of any roof-top solar panels.

Roofing work not related to the actual install is currently priced out by the contractor.

Solar Panel Install Overview

The panel install is paid by the pound of solar panel installed. Each Panel is about 50 lbs, and typical residential jobs are 20-30 panels per job.

Solar panel installs are fairly quick and easy. The thing that takes the longest is installing the rack that the solar panels get mounted to.

Solar Panel Install Process

The racks get attached to the rafters of the building.

  1. For shingle, an anchor can simply be drilled directly into the roof rafter.

  2. The foot that connects the rack to the anchor simply clips on.

  3. The rack itself gets screwed to the foot.

  4. Finally the panels get clamped down or screwed down onto the rack, and are plugged into each other, or into a trunk cable that leads down to the inverter.

For tile, the install process is the same, only a drop-in tile replacer is used as the anchor.

This is about as much as the roofing contractor is required to do.

Most of the electrical work gets done on the ground by the electrician.
